Dr. Hompesch moved to Fairbanks when he was one month old and graduated from West Valley High School. At the University of Colorado he eared a B.S. with high honors in Chemistry. At the University of Washington Dental School he graduated at the top of his class with honors. Having great interest in the area of oral and facial surgery, Dr. Hompesch began his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Unversity of Texas Medical School where he completed his medical degree. After medical school he spent an intense year in general surgery and another two-and-a-half years of residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital. His training spanned all the areas of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery including dental implant surgery, facial trauma, cosmetic surgery, anesthesia, corrective jaw surgery, as well as dentoalveolar surgery. This training provided Dr. Hompesch with the ability to identify and treat disease of the face and oral cavity. Dr. Hompesch met his wonderful wife, Catherine, in medical school. After they completed their training he persuaded her to move back home to Fairbanks with their children. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Hompesch takes call at the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and provides emergency care for the people of Fairbanks. He's a member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
