Painful Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth, also know as the third molars, are the last teeth to erupt into the mouth. Therefore they often do not have enough space to fully erupt. This leads to what we call impacted teeth. This can lead to wisdom teeth causing pain and infections. Even when wisdom teeth do erupt, since they are far back in the mouth, they often become carious. This may also cause pain and infections.

Dr. Hompesch is a surgical specialist who removes wisdom teeth regularly. IV sedation is available and it is typically best to be sedated when the wisdom teeth are removed. Wisdom teeth can be removed under local anesthesia if necessary.
